“Total Sanitation under Swachh Bharat Mission”

To bring about an improvement in the general quality of life in the rural areas, by promoting cleanliness, hygiene and eliminating open defecation, we have conducted community behavioural change activities in 2016 - 18.

During this, we motivated Communities and Panchayat Raj Institutions to adopt sustainable sanitation practices and facilities through awareness creation and health education. Also, to encourage cost effective and appropriate technologies for ecologically safe and sustainable sanitation, various activities were conducted at block level. We have developed wherever was required at ground level. With the focus on Community managed sanitation systems focusing on scientific Solid & Liquid Waste Management systems for overall cleanliness in the rural areas, we have worked at Samastipur, Muzaffarpur and Madhubani district in Bihar.

"Sawchh Basti Abhiyan" under Swachh Program of PCF was launched in the year 2016 -17, activities were conducted around the urban slums of Patna and Darbhanga. This program is inspired by Swachh Bharat Mission. The awareness programs are followed by the household survey and the analysis of community toilets built for the slums.

People are encouraged to use toilet and practice clean sanitation system. Awareness activities for Water and Hygiene are also conducted at local government schools to encourage the children. Role plays and painting completions are organised for the same. More than 2000 population was covered under this program around Patna and Darbhanga.
